Old Main – Wayne State University
By Rod Arroyo
I am serving as an Adjunct Professor at Wayne State University this semester and I see this building every time I go to class. Old Main was originally constructed in the late 1890’s as Detroit’s Central High School. It included space for 2,000 students. Today it houses the WSU College of Fine, Performing and Communication Arts, including departments of music, theatre, communication, dance, art, and art history. I took this photo from the top of a nearby parking garage after class.
