The 2016 Detroit Jazz Festival was the best weekend of jazz ever for me. The quality of music was superb, the weather was perfect, and the crowds were great. I enjoyed meeting artists, taking in the performances, and watching the crowds react to the music. The city of Detroit was at its best.
There really is no other family like a jazz family. These are the friendliest and most diverse crowds you will ever see. The fans are here for the music and the musicians know it.
I could not be at every performance and it’s not practical to post every photo, but these are some of my favorites from the weekend.
Thank you to the Detroit Jazz Festival, all of the sponsors, and the volunteers for making this festival the best jazz festival in the world. Please consider becoming a sponsor to help keep the festival free. This was my first year as a Guardian of Jazz and it was an incredible experience.
