European Street Photography – Black & White Images by Rod Arroyo. All rights reserved
Street photography is generally defined as photography conducted for art or other interest that features unmediated chance encounters and random incidents within public places. Some say to be a true image of street photography, at least one person must be present in the photograph.
During my recent trip to Europe, I had the opportunity to photograph landscapes, urban places, waterfront scenes, and more. In this presentation of street photography, I selected monochrome images, as I believe they best portray a timeless appearance and evoke the mood I see with my mind’s eye when I capture the image. This is in the spirit of my favorite street photographers – Henri Cartier-Bresson, David Turnley, Peter Turnley, Vivian Maier, and Gordon Parks. I also use Leica camera gear as did Cartier-Bresson and the Turnley brothers, as I believe it has the ability to capture a black-and-white image that is unparalleled.
